Dr. Emily Baker grew up in St. Louis, MO and, with much influence from her father, decided she wanted to be an optometrist in her junior year of high school. She was drawn to Colorado for her undergrad education and attended the University of Colorado, where she graduated with a bachelor degree in environmental, population and organismic biology. Throughout her undergraduate years, Emily worked as a pre-tester and vision therapist at Boulder Vision Center in Boulder, CO to get her feet wet. From there, she moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL to attend Nova Southeastern University and graduate with a doctor of optometry degree in 2004. In her third year of optometry school, Dr. Baker did an intensive six week externship concentrating on fitting hydrogel and rigid-gas permeable lenses, followed by a six week pediatric clinic where she focused on pediatric exams, vision therapy and visual perception evaluations. In her last year of optometry school, her externships included lasik pre and post-operative care, cataract pre & post-operative care, glaucoma management and treatment along with retinal disease management and treatment.

After optometry school, Dr. Baker, once again, was drawn back to Colorado and in 2004 opened her first office at the Broomfield Walmart. In 2005, she was given the opportunity to take on another practice at the Longmont Walmart. She kept both practices until the fall of 2017 when she decided to concentrate solely on her primary practice in Broomfield. She has been happily seeing patients at this office ever since.

Dr. Baker is currently licensed and certified in Colorado for the treatment and management of ocular disease using diagnostic and therapeutic drugs.

She is an active member of the community, enjoys taking care of her two sons, with her husband, David. She loves the outdoors and is currently a member of the Colorado Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and Medical Wings International. With Medical Wings International she has had the opportunity to travel to impoverished areas around the world to deliver eyecare to the less fortunate.

Merri is a Colorado native who had an interest in optometry in 2007. She became an Ophthalmic Technician with an occupational associates degree from the PIMA Medical Institute in 2008. From there, she worked as an ophthalmic tech at Complete Eyecare where she performed pre-testing and refractions, became a optician in April 2014 and finally joined Dr. Emily Baker & Associates, PC in Feb 2016. She has been running our office smoothy ever since.

On her days off, she is busy running after her son, enjoys photography and gardening and riding a motorcycle with her husband.
